ATTENTION ATM and Debit Card Holders
However, because of a new banking regulation, we will not be able to authorize and pay overdrafts for your everyday debit card transactions as of August 15, 2010, unless you ask us to and sign an authorization form.
We have mailed a letter explaining this new regulation along with the Opt-In form that needs to be signed and returned to us. If by mistake you discarded this letter it is available by simply clicking the button above.
Please sign and return this form to us. This is an easy way for you to protect your account and avoid being embarrassed or inconvenienced from having debit card transactions declined. You will still pay a fee of $25 each time we pay an overdraft, but you will not be caught in the dilemma of having your debit card transaction declined because of a lack of funds.
BEWARE!!!!! PHISHING SCAM!!!!
A new phishing scam is circulating. If you receive a call on your home phone or cell phone stating that your ATM card has been suspended and you are directed to push a number for a security department you are being targeted by a scam. More than likely after you are connected with the “security department” you will be asked personal information as well as your card information resulting in your identity theft.
Internet Safety Warning!
Credit Union Information Security Professionals Association (CUISPA) issued a warning for all credit
union members. “Zeusbot” attacks are growing. A “zeusbot” attack, affects member security by
bypassing many anti-virus and malware scanning software, putting personal financial information in
jeopardy.
Upon log in the zuesbot logs member credentials and then offers a screen that asks the user to further
verify their login by entering their credit card data. All information is sent to the attackers.
The Credit Union Information Security Professionals Association, also noted that “while some users may
be skeptical and not enter their data, the damage is already done. The online banking credentials have
already been compromised.” They said the only recourse after an attack is to have members shut down,
wipe and reload their PC, while the credit union changes all account passwords. There have been
dozens of reports nation wide.
Many people fall prey to these schemes because they believe they are interacting with a company that
they trust. Remember the guidelines below when dealing with on-line banking:
Our e-mail messages will never ask members for information we already have.
Our e-mail messages will never include member account numbers.
We will never ask members to verify information via e-mail.
We will not e-mail links.
WE will never e-mail a form, or post a form asking members to verify any information.
If you suspect you have been a victim contact the Credit Union office. Back
